Grrrr! At ease members

I want to thank you for your outstanding recruiting efforts. In January 2009, we were down to 4,800 members. Today, we have 5,400. OORAH!!

My boss has set a three-year goal for getting 8,000 members. OORAH! You know that’s a big number, but we can do it. We will do it! Since Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1990-1991, nearly 80,000 Marines and sailors have been members of the 2d Marine Division. Double that number for the units that have supported the Division. You have to agree that the pool of new members out there exists. OORAH?

Here’s the scoop members—most of those younger Marines and sailors do not know anything about our association. Most of them want to keep up with the current Division activities. They could do that by reading Follow Me—if they get a copy. Most of them would like to get in touch with their old foxhole buddies and shipmates. They can through our chapter meetings, our reunions, our Division Birthday celebrations, and our new Facebook page. Most of them don’t know that our deserving scholars receive $1,200 for college each year. Most of them surely don’t know about our new chapters where they can join men from their old unit. You and only you can help them! Grrrrrrrrrr.

By the way members, I want to give a round of cheer to the First Wave Chapter (2d AA Battalion) and the Beirut Battalion Chapter (1/8) who in the past three months have started recruiting new members. Officers of the First Wave chapter plan to get 100 new members in the next six months. OORAH!!

If you meet a person who maybe interested in joining, tell them to go on line to the web site www.2dmardiv.com, tell them to give the national headquarters a call at (910) 451-3167, or, for Chesty’s sake, give them your Follow Me–it has an application in there–then call Dave or Rosie and they will send you a replacement copy the next day. Members, is that too hard? OORAH?

Before you all run off on liberty–grrrrrrr and you earned it, think of the deployed men and women from the Division in Harm’s Way. Pray for their safety and for their success. Be safe and report back by 0600 on Monday!
